“I would also like to share a discussion I had with a friend on a clip that mtv and all other channels passed long time ago: Hi … , I know that the clip is not nice and it passed long ago on mtv and all tv channels in Lebanon and the arab world and is not passing anymore, this is the case for any new clip for a known artist and this artist is popular and known. But there is a strange campaign of accusations just against mtv, as if mtv is homophobe or racist or whatever, and i’m sure you know that mtv is not. There is a campaign each week to discredit a successful tv station. They start digging examples from the past, once for an old comedy sketch a la cage des folles, or once for a hidden cam report done 3 month ago in Tripoli, etc.. Didn’t we do a hidden cam, on drugs, on Prisons, on prostitution etc etc.. We will keep on doing special reports like any good tv station in the world does. MTV in no way encourages discrimination –including discrimination due to sexual orientation. We regret that this debate has come into question. MTV condemns the actions of the police force and certainly endorses the call for the immediate and safe release of the remaining men being held in custody. Going back to the video clip in question, Just remember that the guy in this clip did a very controversial song before about “women to stay home and not work”, just to create controversy, and women laughed in his face, and even one of them did a clip against him to say that he is from the stone ages, but women in general didn’t start attacking us for discrimination… anyway, I hope that some of you will start realising that this is a campaign against mtv and stops helping the instigators spreading it”

He adds in a second comment:

“and with another friend: Hi … don’t want to keep answering or defending, I gave my point of view, but let’s stop the paranoia please, each time a word is used in a report doesn’t mean it is accusing a group of people, unless they are Paranoiac as I said. If you see a homosexual or a Heterosexual masturbating in a movie theatre, you would say “shefna Chazz” etc 🙂 so please stop this nonsense”

Not when people have already preconcieved ideas about controversial subjects. A good TV station tends to wake people up and not chase scoops and headlines. That’s prostitution.

Debile! and why the fucking smiley face for “shefna chazz” plus there is a big difference between “Shefna Chazz” w farjayna kil el 3alam Shazz!!
a man or an institution are more respected when they Just Assume their mistakes instead of defending it in a bullshit nonsense way

Not convincing, but maybe because of the poor grammar, he’s the owner of a TV station, he should have better english!

I believe his comment did more harm to MTV than good. An apology would have served better.

The problem is with the way they are covering these stories. Why can’t we cover them in a more objective manner without bringing in the whole sensationalism, yellow journalistic, Marwan Najjar style… Basically, the Lebanese way of doing it…
Be objective, and cover stories in a respective manner without trying to please a judgmental audience. Please make people THINK for once.

Because this generates more viewership and thus money as they step on personal liberties and freedoms.

The problem is that MTV is always playing the role of the victim, when in fact they are the persecutors. all their shows are racist. they are either making fun of gays as in La youmal, or of fat people, or of ugly people. they think they are too smart or too important, or too good for others. they have to decide if thry want to be a tv for all or for a certain bunch. they cannot have it all. I am sorry Jihad, but think again..this time mtv deserved it, it serves it right.

1- if ANYONE is Paranoid, it’s not the LGBT community or association, it’s MTV…
so HIZBOLLA is backing up an LGBT cause against MTV???
HIZBOLLA? the extremist religious party? is backing LGBT???
    HAAAA!!! 😀

2- the least MTV Lebanon could’ve done to save face, was to simply Apologise! not start a counter paranoid campaign Accusing everyone left and right!!! we’re not in KG1 anymore!

3- if MTV Lebanon is so pro Freedom of speech, how come they deleted all those negative comments on their ” paranoid YOUTUBE clarification” read by Anchor Mona Saliba???

  9. shez???LOL!

As reporters, you should try to assume what such reports will do to people (involved in it). If i see someone masturbating in the movies (and i’ve seen people masturbating in buses) i would just “not ” like it but i wouldn’t want them in jail. If i don’t want them in jail, i wouldn’t go put it on national TV and make a big deal out of it and expect nothing to happen on a legal level KNOWING a certain sexual orientation is illegal in Lebanon.
Man in few words: THEY PUT AN EGG UP THEIR ASSES!
Thank you national TV’s for making me sure i don’t want to live in this country.Thank you MTV for giving all the people who believe in Human rights the chance to unify and stand up for the 36 men and thousands of others who are the victims of a culture that doesn’t “know” and victims of people craving fame no matter what the price is.
P.s: i recommend a workshop to improve some terms such as prostitution which is sex work.
if you want to change anything, there is no better cause than to improve the lives of many who are marginalized or victimized by the others. NOT to fuck their lives.
SHez???seriously??u use this word 3adtan? LOL!
